how to setup a cardboard display
- There are many different styles, but there are 2 main categories; Floor standing display and counter top display.
- Floor displays tend to be larger, and often are made up of numerous component pieces. They can utilize shelves, hanging pegs, or can be used as a dump bin for small individual items.
- Counter displays tend to be much smaller, and carry less product. They also tend to be made up of a fewer number of components, and typically utilize tier shelving or divided rows.
- Of the two categories, floor displays tend to require the most assembly labour, but both type of displays can be pre-assembled by Boxmaster for shipping to your client.
- The most important pieces of any display are those that have the graphics applied to them. Typically this the header card, that is carrying the message that you are trying to communicate to your clients, and is usually the most expensive component piece. Handle this piece with care.
- The best way to begin any display assembly is to ensure that you have all the pieces you will need, grouped together in an area that provides you with enough space to spread out, while keeping the display safe from damage and soiling (not the floor in your receiving warehouse!)
- The first step is to pre fold all the pieces. This ensures that the display will fold together and lock up the way that it was designed to, so that it looks as professional as possible.
- For most counter displays and many shelved floor displays, you will likely need to integrate smaller components as you fold up the larger sections (typically called the product tray). Be sure to fold pieces slowly and carefully on the first try, so that you don't crease the cardboard in the wrong place by accident. Make sure rollovers are nice and tight, and that all locking tabs fit snuggly into their resting position. Ensure that component pieces like shelves are tucked in nice and tight to their assembled position. On first assembly, it may be easier to have two people folding. Once you have assembled a few, you will start to get better and faster, without sacrificing the quality of the assembly.
- Once the product tray and associated components (i.e. shelves and/or dividers) are assembled, you can move on to the base (floor displays only). Typically the base is already glued at one point, so you can usually pop it open and lock a few tabs in place to keep it stable.
- Once erected, attach the product tray to the base, and utilize any locking tabs present in the design, to ensure stability.
- Add your header to the top, and now you are ready to add your product.
- Every display is different, and may require different procedures, but essentially the process is the same. Your sales rep will be able to assist you with the specific details about your display unit. For the complete package, ask your rep about pre assembly by our experienced assembly staff.
